I began my teaching career in 1997 at Franklin-Simpson High School. Over the course of the last 27 years, I have worked in the field of Social Studies and Special Education. I am currently working as an U.S. History teacher at West Creek High School, in Clarksville, TN preparing our students to be College and Career Ready

I am currently an Senior Capstone and Credit Recovery Teacher at West Creek High School in Clarksville, TN. West Creek is well known as a well established academic institution. We are currently completing our 14th year in existence.

I previously taught U.S. History, AP Human Geography, and Global Issues. Our PLC members met weekly to discuss Common Assessment results, remediation and interventions, and the overall direction of our department. In addition, I worked on preparing our students for the EOC exams through a series of benchmark assessments and addressing the needs of our GAP students.

As a member of the Northwest faculty, I was responsible for teaching World Geography and U.S. History. I collaborated with our World Geography teachers to create Common Assessments and to establish an assessments/standards-based classroom. In U.S. History, we worked through our PLC's to prepare our students for the Tennessee End-of-Course Exam.

At Warren East High School, I primarily worked in the Special Education Department. I was responsible for 15-20 student caseloads and I taught in the resource and collaborative settings. I collaborated mainly in the Freshmen Academy and taught Science, Math, English, and Social Studies in the resource classroom.

1999-2004
 
During my tenure at Hopkinsville High School, I established myself as a Social Studies teacher. I worked with fellow Social Studies teachers to raise CATS scores 14 points over the course of 5 years. I primarily taught Integrated Social Studies in addition to U.S. History and World Civilization. As a department, we worked to align our curriculum to the state standards and to create a scope and sequence that was followed by all Integrated Social Studies teachers. 
 
 
 
Special Education Teacher

1993-1999
 
Upon graduating college, I enrolled in a 5th year Rank II Program at Western Kentucky University. While working on my Special Education certification, I was hired by Franklin-Simpson High School on an emergency certificate. There I taught all Social Studies classes for our resource students. I was responsible for their World Civilization and U.S. History credits.
